Kevin: I'm Jeff Street here. Jeff is the owner and head instructor at Step-by-Step Gun Training and he is also a certified Glock Armorer and avid Glock enthusiast. So the first question for you Jeff is how many times should a person clean a Glock 19? I'm hearing a lot of different opinions on that. How do you see it?

Jeff: If you are new to the Glock platform. You should really clean it every time you use it. This will help you familiarize yourself with how everything looks and feels when it's right. That way, if something goes wrong on the road, it can be fixed before it becomes a real problem down the road.

Kevin: I knew right away that Spring shouldn't be two-part. You shouldn't see a clean, cracked piece of metal. That will really show.
Kevin: Now, if you have a new gun, you should clean it often. What if you're a more experienced shooter? How often should you clean if you have multiple classes?
Jeff: It's not just taking a few classes; You've been doing it for years. So I have friends who still clean their Glocks all the time. It doesn't hurt to keep it clean. It's something you rely on, so why not clean it every now and then?
Kevin: Okay, Jeff. So a person wants to go home and clean their Glock 19 after shooting. What should I do to uninstall it? Here is a person who has been discharged from the hospital. We both verified that. It even has a small barrel block, so we know for sure it's been stripped. So let's get through it.

Jeff: The first thing is, Make sure there's no real ammo in the room here (except for your gun). You open the holster and give the gun a peekaboo before firing to make sure the muzzle is pointing in a safe direction. Then remove the magazine, If there is a magazine, push the magazine out; Pull out the magazine and check if it is empty.
Jeff: Now if I shoot, I do it in my bathroom. There is a toilet in my bathroom. I even had a toilet in the hotel room. Without hitting the trigger, I pulled the gun and pointed it at the toilet bowl, so if it fell out of the way, the bullet would slow down a bit into the water, hit the porcelain tooth, and stop there. I don't want to, the toilet will break. They had to turn off the water pipe to prevent the house from flooding. I asked to call a plumber. So I'm keen not to do that. Then I cocked the slide three times and put my finger in the mug to make sure there was no magazine out now. Played three times. That way, if I undiscipline it and take it out once, I'll see it come out round; But if I see it coming out again, I won't take out the magazine.
After playing that three times, I'll play the slide. If you are very short, You need to turn your body, but you are still facing the forehead on the toilet bowl. So you unlock the slide and look at it again. no magazine You have your fingers to make sure there are no rounds in the chamber, and look down at the mag so that it can see daylight well. You check visually and tactfully to make sure the gun is fully unloaded. Still pointing at the toilet bowl. With a Glock you have to pull the trigger to take it apart. No gun would be taken without having it sorted around the room. I let the slide forward, pointed it at the toilet bowl again, and pulled the trigger. You must then release the tension on the spring and pull the slide back slightly. You can feel it when you press it a little bit. Then here is the release lever. This is a slide out. Both sides must be pulled down at the same time. Then let the slide slide forward. It came immediately. Now I have a frame and I have a slide. On the slide I ejected the barrel with the recoil spring. We basically have four main parts to clear up now.
Jeff: Now, let's break down a gun into its four main components: the slide, recoil spring It is divided into barrel and frame. If you take a nylon brush, you can even use a toothbrush (don't use your toothbrush) just fold in the carbon as much as possible. Do you want to use a brush and a nylon brush? You don't want to use any metal brushes because you will scrape things off and tear up the gunk inside. Do the same with the slide. Rub well into the can. Go ahead and tear it down. Get rid of most of them.

If you have really hardened carbon and want to remove it, I recommend something odorless like Breakthru Clean. This spray is odorless so you can make it at home. Let me sleep for a while. Then go with the q-tips. Just walk around and look for trash. Do not leave large cotton swabs from the Q-tip in your gun. When you get to it, you'll see the Q-tips getting dirty, so cut some Q-tips off and clean them up.
Now you need to reassemble your gun and oil your gun, but before you do that you need to clean the inside of your barrel. For this, I would recommend the born snake. A snake born has weight at the end, There is a rope, And there's this fabric. It has a built-in bristle on the right. Now it is metal; But it's a softer metal than your gun's metal, so it won't scratch your gun. If you see some carbon on the feeding ramp here or elsewhere, something sharp; You don't want to scratch some metal lead. All of these pieces are perfect on them and you don't want to spoil the perfection. As I pull the barrel out of the gun, I drop the weight out of the barrel. I pulled it out and pulled it out a few times. It takes two or three times. If you want to watch it and see how good snake bites are, you can watch how good snake digs are. You can see that the drill snake runs through the barrel and a regular fashioned squeegee, and after running the drill snake it's not too dirty. Run through it.
Now you need to lubricate your Glock 19. I have nice nails and I only use engine oil. But you can use your favorite gun lube and lube the lines. Smear it on the lockable can. Add a ring here to the barrel and run it. Then the frame and the chamber of the slide are also polished on the top of the barrel. Then the plug must be lubricated. I added some lube to the plug hole on this side.
